Finland is a sovereign state, a peninsular that is bordered by the gulf of Bothnia to the west and the gulf of Finland to the south.
Norway borders Finland to the north, Sweden to the North-west, and Russia to the east. Area wise, Finland is Europe’s eighth largest country, but the most sparsely populated.
Helsinki is Finland’s capital city and the national alcoholic drink is Lakka or Lakkalikoon, a liqueur which gets its flavour from the cloud-berry fruit.
The word Lakka means cloud-berry in Finnish. The beverage is an infusion made by soaking the berries in grain alcohol anywhere between two and six months. After soaking in oak barrels, natural sweeteners such as honey and spices like cinnamon are added. It has a ABV of 20%.
